Flat Crown Wood

Mixng wood shades in decorating...?

*Honey oak stained base trim and crown moulding.
*6 panel doors that are stained mohogany on the inside of the panels (recessed parts of the door) and stained honey oak on the outside of the panels (the flat surfaces of the doors).
Mohogany stained door frames
Mohogany stained trim surrounding the doors (door casing)
Oak stained blocks (bullseye design in the center), for the corners of the door to "tie it all together".

Is it "okay" to mix these shades of wood? Would you think it's a good idea, or not? When selling my home down the road, would the varying shades of wood be a turnoff to the perspective home buyer? Any relevant comment would be appreciated.

*Note, I have sanded the mohogany off all areas of the doors that I can, I do not have the energy to sand it out of the recessed areas. We do not have the funds to purchase new trim for the doors to match the oak trim on the floors. I will not paint over the doors or the trim- I want to keep the look of wood!

You would sell it?! It sounds absolutely gorgeous to me! The reason it is "okay", is that you have all natural wood, your description reminds me of a beautiful wood mosaic pattern I saw at an art museum, it was breathtaking. These are also the natural wood colors of my father's library. Our house was built in 1920's, the warm woods(honey oak, maple) do just that- give a warmth to the room, and it somehow increases the comfort ,safety level. The mahogany represents strength, power, which is also a source of comfort. You will see this wood mix in older, historical homes, in the offices and libraries of senior "power people"(lawyers, judges),check out some of the movies where you can see in the backdrop the law offices of back in the day("The Firm", "The War of the Roses") and in actual libraries around in older historical towns, woods represent stability,affluence,comfort...You don't need to sand anymore, what you already sanded, just apply a lighht, clear based, maple or honey oak stain,(good decision, not to paint!), it will look so warm and pretty, it will pick up the highlights left over from the mahogany, and it will match up with the honey oak, the wood colors together look like fire in the fireplace, I mean, the colors dance and actually radiate heat!!(OK, I have real, fond memories of the time I spent in these colors) No way would this be a turnoff to the perspective home buyer, especially one with a deja vu..... You have good taste, I say that because you opted to preserve the wood. How does the wood combination in your home make you feel?Yeah, it's "okay"...
