Benefits Of Solid Wood Furniture

A very distinct advantage of solid wood furniture is its durability. It is constructed, as the name suggests, from "solid wood" that is to say, there is no plywood and there are no veneers. A veneer is a coating consisting of a thin layer of superior wood glued to a base of inferior wood. Solid wood furniture pieces should be made entirely from 100% reclaimed material so as not to harm the environment by depleting the tree stock.

Solid wood furniture, as the name suggests is made of solid wood, and that is all. No ply or particle boards are used and no veneers. A veneer is the name given to the thin layer of quality wood that is used in some manufacturing practices to overlay woods of lesser quality. It is literally stuck on with glue. This type of furniture is not veneered.

Another type of wood that's popular is mahogany. Mahogany comes from Central and South America and Africa. It's a medium-hard wood that's very strong, and is tan to reddish brown in color. Mahogany is excellent for carving and engraving.

Squeeze excess liquid from the cloth although you want the cloth to be relatively heavy with green clean formula. The gently rub the wood all over with the cloth. You will probably need to dip the cloth into the bowl several times to reapply the mixture to a large piece of furniture. It doesn't matter is you leave a light oily residue on the unit while you are working. This will help to loosen any dirt as well as add some moisture to the wood.

The dining table is the key piece within any dining room and it should be a conversation piece in its own right. With a beautifully constructed table, made from the finest of reclaimed hardwoods, the conversation is sure to flow. And if the wine should flow too, no problem! Hardwoods especially Teak are particularly resilient to damage from liquids.
